Beach Soccer

I really wanted to sit calmly and write down interesting thoughts on the experiences i?m having from life here in Singapore and working at a great company, DHL. However, today was beach soccer day and i'm dead...

... plus we lost :)

I gotta catch up sometime... i did look around everyone's adventures & mind-sharings and some really exciting stuff is happening. Particularly liked:

- Minni's birthday cake picture
- Bea's list of things she must do before she dies
- Vaibhav's thoughts on politics
- Devrim's picture of Freight Forwarding in Asia
- Abhi's trashing of terrorism

Brenda was about to qualify for the list but she still doesn't have a picture of me on her blog :))

This is a must do in KL!

The museum of Islamic Arts is impressive in size and nature. If you want to learn more about Islam this is the place to go.

The highlight includes a single floor with miniature replicas of the worlds most important mosques.

Making dodol

While at Menara Kuala Lumpur we smelled something amazing... these people we're making a special sweet called dodol.

They stir these large pots with coconut, milk, sugar (and other) for 8h until it hardens into this malay delicacy.

The lady there liked our style and asked us whether we didnt want to stir for a bit :)

Eating at Nando's

I love my country (Portugal) and, even though i'm abroad, every chance i get to experience a bit of home i take it.

There's a chain of grilled chicken restaurants in Malaysia (but also in other countries) called Nando's and while in KL i took the time to eat there.

You're greeted at the entrance with a "Bom dia" (portuguese for Good Morning) but thats about it for language knowledge.

I asked if anyone was portuguese there and.. surprise, surprise... no!

The place was very nicely decorated with the famous "Galo de Barcelos" (a portuguese ceramic rooster icon & legendary story) among other things.

In the picture you see (partially) the menu and the wrack with spicy sauces (not a very portuguese thing though). The rooster stands out.

After a couple of attempts we finally got the flash at the right pitch and on automatic and took this stunning night picture of the 2 of us with the 2 towers behind.

A weekend trip to Kuala Lumpur

Petronas

One of the great things about living in Singapore is that you have a whole set of countries nearby which you can visit quite cheaply over the weekend.

Price and time wise it can be compared like taking a train from Lisbon to Porto or from Rotterdam to London.

We kicked off our weekend travelling by going to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's capital.

In this picture you see the 2 tips of what used to be world's largest towers, the Petronas towers, which are a national symbol.

Tower in malay is "menara". However, if you want to see a breathtaking 360? view of the city you should go to Menara Kuala Lumpur which is the big communications tower.

This tower sits on a 90m hill providing the optical illusion that it is higher that Petronas. The advantadge over Petronas is that at the latter you're only allowed to go up to the skybridge which unites both towers and at Menara Kuala Lumpur you're all the way at the top.
